Home Improvement

Home Improvement

I take you to be my lawfully wedded wife or husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do us part.

Psalms 127:1 NKJV
1 Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalms 127:3 NKJV
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord , The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Psalms 127:4 NKJV
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

One home is built on the rock and one home is built on the sand. The determination of which home falls and disintegrates and which home stands is based on you and I hearing the sayings of Jesus Christ and then, after hearing, putting them into practice.

Jesus warns us that against every home or family there will be pressure that will come to bear, described as rain, floods, and wind. It will test our home as to whether we have built it properly.

Hear the word, read the word, and do what the word says!

James 1:25 NKJV
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

This verse tells us that not only are we wise, but we will also be blessed (happy).

God gives us the recipe for happiness for a family. God’s word and his teachings will hold us like an anchor in life’s storms.

We’ve become experts at hiding what we don’t want others to see. When we refuse to deal with past issues, we cover them up and then lose touch with our real selves. We hide and cover our wounds. There is self-rejection, low self-esteem, and a lack of confidence in who we are as human beings.

Isaiah 61:1-3 NKJV
1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord , And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord , that He may be glorified.”

There are six types of people that Jesus was anointed to heal:
1. The poor
2. The brokenhearted
3. The captives
4. Prisoners
5. Mourners
6. The spirit of heaviness

Jesus preached good tidings,
He heals the brokenhearted,
He proclaims liberty to the captives,
He opens the prison to the prisoner,
He comforts and consoles those who mourn, He gives us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy, and the garment of praise.

Matthew 6:33 NKJV
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
