Matthew 3:13-17 NKJV
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Baptism is a sign of our obedience to His Lordship.

1. The Father says that this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.

Water baptism is an occasion for a heavenly announcement to your soul. YOU are His beloved son or daughter in whom He is well pleased. You need to know this!

You don’t go by your feelings when your feelings contradict the word.

Many people will say that they felt so good at their baptism. That’s not just an emotion, that’s a sense of divine pleasure God wants every one of us to experience.

2. When Jesus was baptized the heavens were opened or parted. I don’t believe that there was just a parting of the clouds, I believe that this indicates breakthrough.
The invisible realm becomes real to you as a person.

This open heaven speaks of an awareness of access to the authority of the throne of God.

3. At Jesus’s baptism the Holy Spirit came upon him. The same Holy Spirit who lives in you is going to do a work in you when you are baptized in water. We have an unlimited resource in the Holy Spirit.
