Three levels of Giving
1. Tithing
2. Offerings
3. Extravagant Giving
Luke 6:38 NKJV
38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
We need to ask, “What measure am I using to give?”
When we become cheerful, willing givers, we become more and more like our Heavenly Father.
Part of becoming a tither and a generous giver is controlling our thoughts.
Deuteronomy 15:10 NKJV
10 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.
Selfishness can attack us before we give, but grief can attack us after we give.
We need to say, “I was born selfish, but I was born again generous.”
Your new nature inside of you wants to be generous.
Let’s live in an attitude of gratitude—so filled with gratitude to God for all He’s done for us that we can’t help but to give.
Acts 20:35 NKJV
35 I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
Acts 10:1-2 NKJV
1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.
He gave generously.
He prayed always.
