Life’s Greatest Challenge

Life’s Greatest Challenge

How to turn a God-given day into a God-governed day to become a God-Gladden day

We have a Provided day

1,440 minutes
86,400 seconds

We have a Present day

There are two days that can rob us of today:
Yesterday & Tomorrow

Unhook from Yesterday
-Past Guilt
-Past Glory
-Past Grief
-Past Grudges

Unhook from Tomorrow
Waiting for Tomorrow
Worrying about Tomorrow

We have a priceless day
-Prayer
-Prioritize
-Power

We have a Providential day
The secret is seeing God’s hand in every day that He gives to us

We have a Passing day
We can either use time or lose time

When as a child, I laughed and wept
Time Crept
When as a youth, I dreamed and talked
Time Walked
When I became a full-grown man
Time Ran
When older still; I daily grew
Time Flew
Soon, I shall find in traveling on
Time’s Gone

The Comeback: Comeback To Praise

The Comeback: Comeback To Praise

Luke 17:11-19 NLT
11 As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. 12 As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, 13 crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy. 15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” 16 He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. 17 Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you. ”

I will COMEBACK to praise because…

I Can Pray to Him.
V12-13 As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

Instead of living a life filled with complaints, I’m going to live a life filled with confidence in Christ!

I will COMEBACK to praise because…

I Can Trust Him
V14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.

TRUST HIM ENOUGH TO DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU TO DO.

I will COMEBACK to praise because…

He Deserves It
V16-18 He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”

Though we are UNDESERVING to give praise, we are privileged to do that very thing.

Psalms 107:31 NLT
31 Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.

I will COMEBACK to praise because…
IV. It prepares me

Praise still prepares us and opens the way to the next level of our relationships with God.

Come Back to Prayer Part 2

Come Back to Prayer Part 2

When were our lives last affected by a truth that we heard?

1. What is your definition of prayer?

2. What is the primary reason we should pray?

To build and maintain a dynamic love relationship with God

3. List some parts of prayer: praise, thanksgiving, confession, intercession, listening

Philippians 4:6 NKJV
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

4. It is true that we can pray anywhere. However, where is the
one place Jesus told us to pray?

Matthew 6:6 NKJV
6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

5. If God told you He would give you anything you asked for,
what would you ask for?

I Kings 3:9-10 NKJV
9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” 10 The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

Do our prayers please the Lord?

6. Jesus said something 16 times in scripture—what was it?

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear”

7. Jesus said that there is one thing we cannot do without.
What is it?

Luke 10:41-42 NKJV
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:39 NKJV
39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.

Acts 2:42 NKJV
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

v. 42: Godly discipline – big difference between “occasionally”
and “steadfastly”
v. 43: results – many signs and wonders

3 possible conditions of hearts that possibly keep us from
hearing from God:

1. A divided heart

Matthew 6:24
24 …You cannot serve God and mammon.

James 1:7-8
7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from
the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Double-minded: we want God, yet want the world.

2. A dirty or damaged heart

James 4:8
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

1 Timothy 1:5
5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure
heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,

3. A hard heart

Luke 8:21 (NIV)
21 He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear
God’s word and put it into practice.”

The Comeback

The Comeback

Acts 1:9-11 NIV
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. 10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Matthew 24:37-39 NKJV
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Matthew 24:42 NKJV
42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

Matthew 24:44 NKJV
44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Luke 21:34 NKJV
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.

Genesis 6:5-6 NKJV
5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

Genesis 6:8 NKJV
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord .

Genesis 6:13 NKJV
13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Amos 3:7 NKJV
7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

1. To stir us up to seek Him
2. To convict us of the sin of cozying up to the culture of this world and letting it influence us more than the Word of God
3. To admonish us to be a Noah—preaching and sharing the good news of Christ even in the face of opposition

Matthew 24:42 NLT
42 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
Matthew 24:44

For those of us that love Christ, we love the thought of His appearing.

I John 3:3 NKJV
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1. the rapid rise of divorce, the undermining of the dignity and
sanctity of the home, the basis of human society

2. higher and higher taxes and the spending of public monies for free bread and amusements for the populace

3. the mad craze for pleasure, sports becoming more exciting and more brutal every year

4. the building of gigantic armaments when the real enemy was decadence of the people

5. the decay of religion, faith fading into mere form and tradition, losing touch with life and becoming impotent in warning and guiding people

II Peter 3:9 NKJV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Acts 2:25,

David said about him:
“‘I saw the Lord always before my face.

Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken (moved).

The literal meaning here is, “I was always in His presence beholding His face.”

Jesus was saying none of these problems, evils or coming events
can cast Him down or shake His confidence. “My Father is in
complete control.”

Acts 2:28 NIVUK
28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.”
