Your Secret Hedge

Your Secret Hedge

Job 1:8-11 NKJV
8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” 9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”

V. 12 “All that he has is in your hand”

1. Why do we serve God?
2. Do we know we have a hedge around us?
3. Do we know what can hinder the hedge?

Hedge – shield; wall

Deuteronomy 33:29 NKJV
29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord , The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, And you shall tread down their high places.”

Job 1:5 NKJV
5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.

Sanctify – declare holy, set apart, purify – free from sin; made
acceptable

Hebrews 9:22 NKJV
22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

Hebrews 13:12 NKJV
12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

This wasn’t just any blood, but the lamb’s blood.

Satan says to God, “I can’t get through to Job or his family or his possessions because of that blood sacrifice.”

Psalms 34:7 NKJV
7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.

Revelation 12:11 NKJV
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Matthew 6:14-15 NKJV
14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Job 2:9-10 NKJV
9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!” 10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

Satan thought, if he took his wealth, that Job would curse God.
Apparently, Job could serve God with or without his wealth.

Job 19:26 KJV
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

1. Pride
2. You used your wealth for yourself.
3. You have a secret Sin in your life.
