Good News

Watching or hearing bad news tends to magnify our own worries and concerns.

Philippians 4:8 NIV 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Luke 2:10 NIV 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

Luke 21:28 NKJV 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Your redemption draws near:

1. Christ redeems from all iniquity.

2. This redemption is our ultimate deliverance from all of the bad news down here.

II Kings 7:9 NKJV 9 Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now therefore, come, let us go and tell the king’s household.”

Proverbs 15:30 NIV 30 Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

Matthew 11:4-5 NIV 4 Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

Good news believed and acted upon causes us to be optimistic.

Matthew 16:21-23 NKJV 21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. 22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Luke 24:6-8 NKJV 6 He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, 7 saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ” 8 And they remembered His words.
