Time Well Spent in Worship

Sacrifice – the willingness to give up something I love or need for someone or something I love even more Sacrifice is not what you measure according to what someone else does. Sacrifice is a heart so filled with gratitude to God that you and I are willing to give Him anyth

ing. Luke 19:37-39 NKJV 37 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying: “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord !’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”

Luke 19:40 NKJV 40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Psalms 57:7 KJV 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Hebrews 13:15 NKJV 15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

The Greek term most commonly translated worship means, “to give reverence to; to pay divine homage to; to worship and adore”

Genesis 22:5 NKJV 5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”

Psalms 47:1 NKJV 1 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!

Psalms 134:2 NKJV 2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, And bless the Lord .

Psalms 63:5 NKJV 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

Ephesians 5:19 NKJV 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

Psalms 150:6 NKJV 6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord . Praise the Lord !

Psalms 139:14 NKJV 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Tithing opens a window in heaven of God’s blessings. Praise and worship open your door in heaven for your spiritual victory and the defeat of the enemy. Isaiah 61:3 NKJV 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord , that He may be glorified.”

My Heart is in the Right Place There are more than 500 verses in the Bible concerning prayer and nearly 500 verses concerning faith, but there are more than 2,000 verses on the subject of money and possessions. Jesus talked about money in 16 of His 38 parables. 15 percent of everything Christ said relates to this topic (money and possessions) In Matthew, Mark and Luke, 1 out of every 6 verses talk about money.

Matthew 6:21 NKJV 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

1. Where do you Store? (…your treasure?)

Matthew 6:19-20 NKJV 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Christ’s plan is NOT for us to be DEPRIVED of treasure – but for us to understand the true DEFINITION of treasure.

2. What do you See?

Matthew 6:22-23 NKJV 22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

3. Matthew 6:24 NKJV 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Jesus does not say, We must not or we should not, HE SAYS we CANNOT serve God and Mammon

1 Timothy 6:9 ESV 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

How do I break the spirit of mammon and the temptation to worship money?

Money Well Spent

Money Well Spent

Hebrews 7:17 NKJV 17 For He testifies: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

1) The sacred tithe that supported the priests and the Levites This was the tithe Abraham gave to Melchizedek.

Numbers 18:21 NKJV 21 “Behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work which they perform, the work of the tabernacle of meeting.

Numbers 18:28 NKJV 28 Thus you shall also offer a heave offering to the Lord from all your tithes which you receive from the children of Israel, and you shall give the Lord ’s heave offering from it to Aaron the priest.

2) The tithe of the feast and festivals The second tithe was dedicated to the good of man himself.

Deuteronomy 14:22-23 NKJV 22 “You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year. 23 And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.

Deuteronomy 14:26 NKJV 26 And you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires; you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.

3) The tithe for the poor

Deuteronomy 14:28-29 NKJV 28 “At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates. 29 And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

You will not find any place in the New Testament where Jesus rescinded or abolished the giving of the tithe. In Matthew 23:23 Jesus tells us we ought to tithe.

Hebrews 7:8 NKJV 8 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.

Luke 6:38 NKJV 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

II Corinthians 9:6-8 NKJV 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

II Corinthians 9:10 NKJV 10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,

I Corinthians 9:14 NKJV 14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.

Leviticus 27:30 NKJV 30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord ’s. It is holy to the Lord .

1) Satisfaction in knowing we have obeyed, knowing God’s tithe will increase the effectiveness of His kingdom and expand it.

2) A belief that God will cause an overflow in our lives, enough for us and enough to bless others.

3) It increases our faith as we obey the word, and causes us to be even more generous givers. God is a giver. If you’re going to be like God, you’re going to be a giver.

I Timothy 6:10-11 NKJV 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. https://bible.com/bible/114/1ti.6.10-11.NKJV
