WELL SPENT

My Heart is in the Right Place There are more than 500 verses in the Bible concerning prayer and nearly 500 verses concerning faith, but there are more than 2,000 verses on the subject of money and possessions. Jesus talked about money in 16 of His 38 parables. 15 percent of everything Christ said relates to this topic (money and possessions) In Matthew, Mark and Luke, 1 out of every 6 verses talk about money.

Matthew 6:21 NKJV 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

1. Where do you Store? (…your treasure?)

Matthew 6:19-20 NKJV 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Christ’s plan is NOT for us to be DEPRIVED of treasure – but for us to understand the true DEFINITION of treasure.

2. What do you See?

Matthew 6:22-23 NKJV 22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

3. Matthew 6:24 NKJV 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Jesus does not say, We must not or we should not, HE SAYS we CANNOT serve God and Mammon

1 Timothy 6:9 ESV 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

How do I break the spirit of mammon and the temptation to worship money?

BY WORSHIPING GOD WITH MY MONEY.
