Foundational The Inspired Word II

Timothy 3:13-17 NKJV 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

V. 15 From a child, you have known the Holy Scriptures

Mark 12:24 NKJV 24 Jesus answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?

Luke 24:45 NKJV 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Acts 17:2, Acts 17:11 NKJV 2 Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

John 1:1-2 NKJV 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.

John 1:14 NKJV 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:16-17 NKJV 16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 21:2 NKJV 2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.

Judges 17:6 NKJV 6 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

Who is teaching your child the Scripture?

II Timothy 3:1-2 NKJV 1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Men will become lovers of themselves and lovers of money, not of God (lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God).

II Timothy 3:4 NKJV 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

II Timothy 3:16 NKJV 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

2 Timothy 3:16 – all Scripture is profitable: 1. Doctrine 2. Reproof 3. Correction 4. Instruction in righteousness

II Peter 3:16-18 NKJV 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
